Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for an organizational pro, with excellent communication to lead projects for our growing firm. The ideal candidate will love the process of residential interior design, and truly enjoy taking projects to the finish line. While we are not looking for a designer at this time, we value (and need!) the expertise and knowledge that you’d bring to your role as a project manager. 

Project Management:

• Managing master project schedule & review with principal designer to ensure good workflow

• Creation and management of project timeline throughout the duration of the project. 

• Assist is creation of project budget and management of budget throughout the duration of the project

• Communication of any breakdowns or snags in timeline and budget to Principal Designer and Team, as appropriate. 

• Project Management of installations: cabinets, stone, tile, hardware, lighting, paint, window treatments, furniture, etc. 

Procurement: 

• Requesting product quotes and specifying finishes, with guidance and direction from Principal Designer. 

• Creation of project FFE schedules (lighting, paint, WT, plumbing, door hardware, appliances) with guidance from Principal Designer. 

• Support Principal Designer by ordering product samples for projects, as needed. 

• Purchasing product.

• Product Tracking & Coordination with the receiver, product damage resolution in coordination with principal designer.

Design:

• On Occasion: Weigh in on design decisions, act as a general sounding board for Principal Designer. 

• Willing to help with special projects as needed. 

Teamwork: 

• Communication and professional presentation are critical components of this role. Communicating to clients as needed, vendors, tradespeople and Principal Designer with clearly written, professional emails, articulating issues at hand, and offering solutions. 

• Timeliness is everything!  Arriving 5 minutes early to site visits, Zoom calls, meetings. 

• Tracking all hours by Monday at 10 am of the previous week. Reviewing all hours with principal on a monthly basis to ensure projects are tracking as estimated.

Requirements/ Work Conditions:

• Must have at least 3 years experience in managing interior design projects, residential preferred. 

• Must have a car for flexible and reliable transportation. 

• This role is mostly remote, with the ability and willingness to travel to jobsites throughout the Chicago area. (North as far as Lake Forest, West as far as Glen Ellyn, East South to the Loop.) However, most clients we serve are on the Northside and in the Oak Park/ River Forest Area. 

• This role will start at about 20 hours per week and is very likely to grow into a full time role by summer. While this is a 1099 role, 2 weeks of PTO/ year are provided.
